ADC, APC intends to free El-Rufai following the 2027 election

In a Thursday statement, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) claimed that Nasir El-Rufai, a former governor of Kaduna State, will be released by the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the 2027 elections.

According to Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman for the ADC, the APC is aware that releasing El-Rufai before the election would strengthen the opposition.

Guest starring in Channel 4’s Politics Today, Abdullahi emphasised that the ADC does not support complicating El-Rufai’s bail process.

During his statement, he clarified that while the ADC does not oppose the prosecution of anyone with a valid case, they do object to the practice of arraigning a defendant for a bailable offence and then setting extremely high bail conditions, leading them to believe that the defendant’s release is intentionally intended to be prolonged.

Just so you know, the ADC is under the impression that the APC administration has decided to hold Mallam Nasir El-Rufai until after the election.

We think that, they intend that, and that’s what they’ll do. The opposition is more formidable now that Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is free, and they are well aware that releasing him would bring back unpleasant memories.

“We, the opposition, think that they are making every effort to keep El-Rufai in jail until after the election.”
