Chijioke Ihunwo, a former Chairman of the Caretaker Committee in Rivers State’s Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, has committed to support Rainbow Coalition candidates and President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid.
Ihunwo, a staunch supporter of Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, stated that his decision was motivated by the governor’s demand for healing and togetherness.
On TVC’s Beyond the Headlines, Ihunwo stated that he was following Fubara’s instructions to support the coalition.
The Rainbow Coalition is a political party in Rivers State led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
But he stated, “Our governor has said there is peace in Rivers State and that we need to move forward.” If you really support him, you should join him in the Rainbow Coalition. That is what we are doing to restore peace to our state.
“I’m following the governor because he’s my principal. I will do anything he orders me to do. We will work together to ensure that every member of the Rainbow Coalition is elected, including the President.”
According to Ihunwo, the governor has directed his people to support Tinubu and all of the alliance candidates.
He announced that he would return to Obio/Akpor to rally support for the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
