Sokoto East Senator Ibrahim Lamido resigns from the APC

Senator Ibrahim Lamido, who represents the Sokoto East Senatorial District, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing growing insecurity and worries for the welfare of his constituents as the key reasons for his resignation.

Lamido announced his decision on Saturday via his official X account, saying, “I, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, representing the good people of the Sokoto East Senatorial District, hereby resign from the APC with immediate effect.”

The senator claimed that his departure was spurred by the APC’s failure to effectively address the district’s mounting security challenges.

Lamido’s decision comes as anxieties grow about banditry, kidnappings, and other violent acts in sections of Sokoto State, which have been affecting local populations.
