Paul Merson urges Arteta custodian to start Arsenal’s final match against Manchester City

Arsenal veteran Paul Merson has pushed manager Mikel Arteta to start custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of David Raya in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium this Sunday.

Merson maintained that it was the 31-year-old custodian who led the Gunners to the Carabao Cup final, not Raya.

He believes it is only fair for Kepa to continue as the Premier League leaders’ custodian.

“Arsenal need to make a big decision whether to go with Kepa Arrizabalaga or David Raya in goal,” Merson told Sportskeeda.

“Kepa has been the first choice in the Carabao Cup, and they should stay with him. It’s only fair considering he performed well and got them to this point.

“He has not let the team down in this competition and deserves to start.”
