ADC calls on Tinubu to treat all victims of insecurity with dignity and respect

After the recent rescue of hostages in Oyo State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) urged President Bola Tinubu to show the same level of compassion to the victims of insecurity across Nigeria, including those in Kaiama, Borno, Zamfara, and elsewhere.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s national publicity secretary, issued a statement in which the opposition group demanded that the president give an update on the 176 people from the Woro community in Kaiama, Kwara State, who were kidnapped on February 3, 2026, and are still in captivity.

According to the ADC, the president’s public jubilation over the release of the kidnapped in Oyo has cast doubt on the safety of other captives. As further evidence that insecurity is a big problem, it cited the kidnapping of Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi High Court, new assaults in Benue, the abduction of forty people of Zamfara, and the ongoing carnage in Borno.

Residents of Kaiama recently held a nonviolent demonstration over the whereabouts of the kidnapped villagers, according to the party, and their relatives have persisted in demanding an answer as to when their relatives will be returned.

“Their protest was not political,” the statement claims. It was the scream of the people who are worried about the fate of their loved ones.

The ADC demanded that the President keep the people of Kaiama, those kidnapped in Zamfara, Justice Bunza, and everyone else currently held captive apprised of the status of rescue operations on a daily basis.

The party also brought up Tinubu’s recent commitment to remove insecurity in northern Nigeria, but they said that Nigerians are sick of hearing empty promises and want to see real change.

It read, “Declarations alone cannot sustain hope indefinitely.”

The ADC went on to say that the lack of tangible outcomes to back up the president’s soothing words on security issues has led to his growing reputation as “a professional statement-maker” in this area.

The group urged Tinubu to show the world that every life in Nigeria is valuable.

“Management is not evaluated by the speed with which the state rejoices over a rescue; rather, it is assessed by the extent to which no Nigerian is abandoned or neglected,” it continued.
