Protesters accuse PDP of dividing opposition support in 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is allegedly dividing opposition votes in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is asking Nigerians to reject the PDP in the 2027 general elections due to these allegations.

Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu, who is running for governor of Jigawa State as a member of the ADC, made the assertion at a meeting of stakeholders in Dutse over the weekend.

Running mate Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim spoke on behalf of Nakudu, who claimed that the APC’s prospects in the next election would be improved if they backed the PDP now.

He said that the PDP’s lack of a clear presidential candidate shows that the party isn’t serious about challenging the ruling party.

The PDP is merely feigning opposition status. Votes can be divided by it. The party is currently without a presidential candidate and is divided along ideological lines, he added. Some members are close to Nyesom Wike, while others are not.

He insisted that after suffering through APC and PDP regimes, Nigerians should see the ADC as a genuine choice that can bring about excellent leadership.

No Nigerian has ever doubted either the APC or the PDP. What each side has to offer is known to them. If we want a better future, we need to back the ADC now, he emphasised.

Confident that more politicians will soon defect to the ADC, Ringim said that the party was approaching key political stakeholders across the state.

The next step is to maintain constant communication and involvement with the people. More individuals will be joining the ADC shortly, and we are already in talks with important political players at our level, he continued.

To increase grassroots mobilisation and recruit more members before the elections, he urged party candidates, officials, and supporters.

“Right now, all we need is some serious work, dedication, and commitment to make sure we win the next general election,” he declared.
