Emmanuel Bwacha, a gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, has asserted that the state is seeing unparalleled corruption under the current administration, although what he characterises as a significant rise in federal allocations over the previous three years.
He characterised the state’s position as worsening, comparing it to “a fish that jumped from the frying pan into the fire,” a metaphor he employed to illustrate what he termed a loss in infrastructure and essential services.
He asserts that the federal allocations received by the state over the past three years surpass those acquired in the preceding eight years; nonetheless, there are no discernible projects to account for the expenditure.
“Notwithstanding the substantial federal allocations received over the past three years, there is no tangible evidence of their impact.” Bwacha stated that no concrete infrastructural project has been initiated or is currently under progress.
The senator compared the current administration to prior regimes, citing initiatives executed under former governors Jolly Nyame, Danbaba Suntai, and Darius Ishaku.
He referenced facilities such as the Jolly Nyame Stadium, hospitals, Taraba State University, and road networks, among others, as proof of progress accomplished by previous governments.
Bwacha has charged the current administration with a lack of openness in the oversight of the state’s finances, specifically concerning monthly revenues and expenditures.
He urged the citizens of Taraba State to endorse his gubernatorial aspirations, promising that his administration would transform the state and achieve developmental progress within months of taking office, if elected.
Bwacha levied the charge on Tuesday in Jalingo during the reception of his PDP governorship nomination form, which was acquired and given to him by a coalition of youths from the state.
