The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, approved the revised Practice Directions, according to a press statement signed by the Federal High Court of Nigeria’s Director of Information, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher.

According to the statement, the new rules are intended to reinforce the handling of pre-election concerns in accordance with the 1999 Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution (as amended), the Electoral Act of 2026, and other relevant legislation.

It further said that the Federal High Court (Pre-Election) Practice Directions, 2026, formally revoked the 2022 Practice Directions, making the new regulations the appropriate framework for the handling of pre-election proceedings before the court.

The court asked members of the Bar, political parties, litigants, and the general public to become acquainted with the revised Practice Directions, noting that a copy had been made available to assist all stakeholders.
