The defectors were met by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, according to a statement signed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Alhaji Aminu Mustapha, former ADC Coordinator in Jega LGA and former House of Representatives candidate for the Aliero/Gwandu/Jega Federal Constituency, stated that they decided to leave the ADC due to Governor Idris’ accomplishments and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

He stated, “Our decision to join the APC was informed by the remarkable achievements of Governor Nasir Idris and the purposeful leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

Mustapha further stated that the APC has demonstrated a commitment to Nigerians’ well-being and continued to be a party with significant grassroots support across the country.

Other defector delegates lauded the governor for his leadership and development efforts. They declared their allegiance to the APC and committed to assist it.

In his answer, Governor Idris welcomed the new members for joining the APC and told them that they would be treated equally with current party members.

He stated that “they would enjoy the same rights, opportunities, and privileges as every other APC member,” while encouraging them to stay united and work for the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.

The governor also praised his administration’s efforts in education, healthcare, agriculture, water supply, rural development, road construction, and youth and women’s empowerment. He stated that his government would continue to offer the benefits of democracy to the people of Kebbi State.

The event was attended by the acting APC state chairman, State Executive Council members, party leaders, and other stakeholders.
