Claims of cultism have led to the suspension of six professors at Kogi Polytechnic.

Based on suspicions of cultish activities, sex for marks, and the illicit sale of course materials, the administration of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has placed six academics on administrative leave.

The news was announced on Sunday in Lokoja by John Onimisi, the institution’s public relations officer.

An announcement was made on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, stating that six professors had been placed on administrative leave for selling course materials without permission and that another professor had been placed on administrative leave for alleged sexual harassment.

Concerns about cult-related activities, sexual harassment, and other forms of institutional misconduct increased, leading to this.

Some instructors allegedly offered financial or sexual favours to female students in exchange for passing their lectures, and cult activities made a triumphant return to college.

Additionally, rather than receiving institutional support, some female students who reported sexual harassment allegedly encountered intimidation.

Reportedly, cult meetings were taking place on campus at night again, despite earlier efforts to ban them.

Several other factors were alleged to have played a role in the reduction of campus discipline, including the return of required handout sales, a relaxation of the school’s dress code, and the implementation of student ID cards.

As per Onimisi’s response to the allegations, the disciplinary committee of the institution is currently investigating the complaints.

Depending on the results of the investigation, he assured us, we will do what was required.
